The story of The Buddy-K Band begins in 1983 when Bill Shipp of Hendersonville, NC, realized that there were many talented musicians in the Hendersonville area that love the big band sound. Bill organized the Buddy-K Band and under his leadership the band has performed throughout the Southeast. Some of their appearances include the Hendersonville (NC) Apple Festival, First Night in Charlotte and Asheville, the Big Band Festival in Augusta, GA, the DeerPark in Asheville and the Bele Chere Festival in Asheville. Bill has recently "retired" from directing the band. Taking over as leader will be Richard Kitterman who has been playing drums with the band for the last ten years.
